ASTORIA - Buoy 10
My boat is moored at the West Mooring Basin at the Port of Astoria. It is located under the Astoria-Megler Bridge. If coming from i-5/Longview after you go under the bridge just turn right at the Kentucky Fried Chicken and then immediate left into the port parking lot. (Turn left at the KFC if coming from Portland) Pay $10 for parking at the meter box. It takes credit cards. (If you need coffee or quick breakfast there is a coffee shop in that parking lot and across the street). To get to the boat, walk through the parking lot toward the water and keep to the left of the building, you will come to a ramp going down to the docks. Take the ramp to the left, then the first dock to your right is B dock. If you need a bathroom they are located in the building right before you head down to the docks. I am at Slip B51 on the left about half way down the dock. Meeting time is bewteen 5:30 and 9:30 am depending on the tides for that day. The tides dictate when, where and how we fish each day. I will text you a day or two before your trip to touch base and go over any changes, as my fishing the day before your trip could dictate a change to schedule. A typical day is 8 hours. If we don’t have our fish by then and there is a good part of the tide to still troll then we could stay out longer.
You will be fishing in a 2021 27' River Wild Elite custom guide boat. It is roomy and seats 6 customers with comfy armchair seating. I have been fishing Astoria for 17 straight years now and guiding it for 11 years. You will have a great shot at landing fish. Seats are a 95 deposit and 155 at the boat. ($250).
Depending on the ever changing fishing regulations, you will be fishing for either Chinook or Coho Salmon but usually it's both. In 2023 we got to keep one Chinook/King (hatchery only / min 24") and one Coho/Silver (hatchery only / min 16") or two Coho if you don't get a Chinook. After Labor Day it is 3 Coho per person but no Chinook. Every rod can continue to fish until we get the boat limit!

2-Rain Gear w/hood & Boots.... it’s NOT for rain.. we get some bow splash when the wind picks up.
3-Food and Drink (medium sized coolers okay)
4-Hats / Sunglasses / Camera / Sunscreen / Layered clothing
Clothing:
Wear layers, it can be a little chilly in the AM but then it warms up. Full rain gear is advised due to possible bow splash...any rain shell with a fleece or sweatshirt underneath is perfect. Sweatpants or athletic gear under your bibs or rain pants is ideal. Boots are wise. The weather in Astoria in Aug/Sept is about 60-75 degrees with almost zero rain but the breeze can cool you off and so will bow splash.
